Our Ethics
Welcome to Neptune SUP; home of premium paddleboards, a stand-up community that feels like family, and our legendary mascot, Neppy.
Since 2013, we’ve been helping people fall in love with paddleboarding, the ocean and the incredible natural world around us. What started as a simple idea has grown into something much bigger: a movement of people who care deeply about quality, connection and our environment.
That’s the magic of paddleboarding.
You don’t need years of training. You don’t need perfect waves. You don’t need a van full of expensive kit.
You just need a board, some water and a sense of adventure.
From first-timers to seasoned racers, paddleboarding welcomes everyone. That inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do.
Sea. Lakes. Rivers. Harbours. Estuaries.
No waves required (although we’ll admit, they are lots of fun!).
Paddleboarding gives you freedom. Freedom to explore your local coastline. Freedom to discover hidden inlets. Freedom to see familiar places from a whole new perspective.
Yes, it’s a brilliant full-body workout. Yes, you’ll build strength, balance and endurance.
But it’s also so much more than that.
Paddleboarding helps you unplug in a world that rarely slows down. It puts you in nature. It clears your head. It reminds you to breathe.
As E.E. Cummings wrote:
“For whatever we lose (like a you or a me), it’s always ourselves we find in the sea.”
We couldn’t agree more.
The idea behind Neptune SUP was simple:
Based on the south coast of the UK, we’ve built more than a brand, we’ve built a community. A community that cares about:
Quality. Community. Environment. Those aren’t buzzwords to us. They’re our foundation.
We’re obsessed with getting it right. In everything we do.
Our boards are built to the highest standards by a highly regarded manufacturing partner we work closely with to refine shapes, test improvements, and push performance forward. Every detail matters to us, because when you’re out on the water, you feel the difference.
The success of our Mach #1 range led to the Mach #2. From there, we expanded our full board range to include our Full Carbon Trident Race & Surf boards
We’re always evolving. Always improving. Always listening to our paddlers.
But our commitment to quality doesn’t stop at the board itself.
We believe that making a truly great product means taking responsibility for its full impact, not just how it performs on the water, but what it costs the planet to get there. That’s why back in 2016 we commissioned a detailed Life Cycle Assessment to calculate the full carbon footprint of every Neptune SUP board and paddle.
That assessment led us to carbon balance every single board and paddle we sell. It’s also why we made the tough call to stop selling inflatable boards. We couldn’t in good conscience champion the environment while selling a large piece of single-use plastic. So we didn’t.
That assessment also led us to support the Trocano Araretama Conservation Project in the Amazon.
Neptune SUP is powered by passionate people who genuinely love what they do.
Alex first tried out paddle boarding in 2018 under the expert guidance of our Technical Director, Crispin, on the beautiful Kingsbridge Estuary and was quickly hooked. He has raced SUP the Creek numerous times since then with his teenage daughter and is a club member at Central SUP in the West Midlands.
Ambitions include more paddling adventures including around the Balkans where he spends a lot of time as well as building Neptune SUPs and Project Demeter to promote paddle boarding and a passion for our natural environment.
Crispin started Paddleboarding in 2008 after his brothers friend introduced them to the sport. After some initial difficulties he was soon hooked and trained to be a BSUPA (British Stand Up Paddle Association) SUP instructor a few years later. It wasn’t until 2014 after a few years of international SUP racing that he took over Waterborn, a SUP School in Kingsbridge, South Devon and really made paddleboarding part of his day to day life, imparting his wisdom of the sport to others.
Crispin lives and breathes SUP, he helps shape the governance of the sport as a Director and Trainer of BSUPA, represented Team GB at the SUP World Championships, supports his community and visitors alike as a non for profit CIC SUP school and organises National level events such as Head of the Dart and SUP The Creek in Devon. We are absolutely delighted to have him on board as our Technical Director for Neptune.
Say hello to Neppy!
Our cute new mascot is the happiest little adventurer on the water. Neppy is fun-loving with a big personality and an even bigger love for paddleboarding. When he’s not cruising across calm lakes or riding gentle waves, he’s helping customers find the perfect gear for their next aquatic adventure.
Neppy is here to guide beginners, inspire seasoned paddlers, and remind everyone that the best days are spent out on the water (for all humans and animals).
We’re real people who care deeply about the experience you have on the water.
Founded by Alex, Project Demeter is Neptune SUP’s eco-arm.
It exists for one reason:
To make climate action feel possible.
Project Demeter connects people with organisations and initiatives already doing incredible work to protect our planet.
If you care about the environment but sometimes feel overwhelmed… you’re not alone.
Project Demeter is about turning that feeling into positive, practical action.
Because loving the ocean means protecting it.
Start taking action today.
